The short version
- You buy a licence to use the app. We acquire no rights whatsoever in what you record.
- Paddle is the merchant of record for every purchase, and its buyer terms cover the payment itself.
- Subscriptions renew until you cancel, and every purchase is covered by a 14-day money-back guarantee.
- What you record is your responsibility, including the right to record the people and material on your screen.
- The app is provided as it is, and our liability is capped at what you paid us.
A summary is not the agreement. The sections below are what you are agreeing to.
The agreement you are entering
ReScreen is operated as a sole proprietorship based in India. The proprietor’s registered name and postal address are available on request from [email protected]. These terms are the agreement between you and us for the ReScreen application, this website and the account service behind them. Using any of the three means you accept them.
If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm you are allowed to bind it, and "you" means that company.
Our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy are part of this agreement.
Your account
Recording unlocks when an account with an active plan signs in, so an accurate email address is part of the deal — it is where verification, receipts and any notice about your plan go.
You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself and for what happens under your account. Tell us at [email protected] as soon as you think someone else has it, and we will help you close it off.
An account belongs to one person. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, or have the consent of a parent or guardian.
The licence we grant you
While your plan is active, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use ReScreen for your own work — personal or commercial, with no separate business licence to buy.
The licence covers the Macs your plan includes. You can release a Mac you no longer use from Settings → Account and sign in on another one, so replacing a laptop does not mean buying the app again.
A lifetime licence is a one-time purchase. It does not expire, and it includes the updates we ship for ReScreen.
We keep every other right. The app, its name, its design and its code remain ours.
What the licence does not allow
You may not:
- sell, rent, sublicense, lend or redistribute the app or your licence to it,
- share one account between several people,
- work around the sign-in, the payment or any technical limit in the app,
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except to the extent the law says we cannot stop you,
- remove or alter our marks or notices, or
- use ReScreen to break the law, or to help anyone else do it.
If you do any of this, the licence ends.
Your recordings are yours
We claim no ownership of, and no licence over, anything you record, edit or export. We never receive it in the first place — the files live on your Mac.
That also means we cannot recover a recording for you. Keep your own backups of work you cannot afford to lose.
Recording other people, and other people’s material
A screen recorder points at whatever is on your screen, and you are responsible for having the right to capture it. That includes customer data, internal systems, documents you are under an obligation to protect, other people's copyrighted material, and anyone whose voice or face is in the take.
Notice and consent laws differ from country to country and from state to state. Some require everyone in a conversation to agree before it is recorded. It is your job to know the rule that applies to you and to follow it; nothing here is legal advice, and we cannot give you any.
Plans, payment and renewal
Prices are on the Pricing page. Checkout is handled by Paddle, the merchant of record: your purchase contract for the payment itself is with Paddle, under its buyer terms, and Paddle handles tax and invoicing for your country.
Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically, at the price in force at the time, for another period of the same length, until you cancel. A lifetime licence does not renew, because there is nothing to renew.
If we change a price, the change applies to renewals after we have told you, never retrospectively to a period you have already paid for.
If a renewal payment fails, nothing stops mid-recording. Update your card and the plan carries on as before.
Refunds
Every plan is covered by a 14-day money-back guarantee, and your statutory rights sit on top of it. The Refund Policy sets out what is covered, how to ask, and what happens to your access afterwards.
Cancelling
You can cancel a subscription at any time, from the account links in your Paddle receipt or by writing to [email protected].
Access runs to the end of the period you have already paid for and then stops. Your recordings are ordinary files in a folder you own, so they stay exactly where they are and keep playing in any video player.
You can also ask us to delete the account itself. That is permanent.
Availability, and changes to the app
We improve ReScreen continuously. Features are added, changed and occasionally retired; if we retire something you rely on, we will say so rather than let you discover it.
The app confirms your plan with our service from time to time, and it keeps working when you are not connected, so a flight or a bad network does not interrupt a take.
We do not promise that the service will never be unavailable. We do promise to fix it when it is.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or end an account that breaches these terms, that is used fraudulently, or that charges back a payment instead of asking us for a refund.
You may stop using ReScreen whenever you like, and ask us to delete the account. Ending the agreement does not by itself refund a payment; the Refund Policy decides that.
What we promise, and what we do not
ReScreen is provided as it is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose you have in mind, and we do not warrant that it will capture every configuration of hardware and software on every Mac.
None of this excludes rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by law. Where such rights apply, they apply.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profit or revenue, for lost time, or for lost or damaged recordings.
Our total liability for any claim connected to ReScreen is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim, or — if you hold a lifetime licence — the price you paid for that licence.
We do not limit liability for anything that cannot lawfully be limited, including fraud.
If your use causes a claim against us
You agree to cover us for claims, losses and reasonable costs that arise from what you recorded, from your breach of these terms, or from your unlawful use of ReScreen.
Third parties
ReScreen runs on macOS and is sold through Paddle. Those companies have their own terms, which govern what they do. We are not responsible for their services, and they are not responsible for ours.
Changes to these terms
We update these terms when the product or the law changes. The date at the top is the date this version took effect, and we will tell you about a material change by email or in the app before it applies to you.
Carrying on using ReScreen after a change means you accept the new version. If you do not, stop using it and ask us about a refund under the Refund Policy.
Governing law, and where disputes go
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute — except where the law of the country you live in gives you the right to bring a claim where you are, which it may.
Before any of that: write to [email protected]. Almost everything is a misunderstanding that one reply fixes.
