Camera & audio

Record your screen, your camera and your voice

Camera, microphone and system audio are captured as independent tracks, so fixing one never damages another.

The problem

One flattened audio track means the notification ping lands on top of the sentence that mattered, your voice is quieter than the app you are demonstrating, and the only repair anyone can offer is to record the whole thing again.

What happens instead

Three separate captures, mixed in the editor. Set microphone and system audio levels independently, fade either at a cut, and run high-pass, noise gate, leveling and compression on your voice without touching the app’s audio.

In detail

What camera & audio actually does

Every device macOS can see

Built-in and external cameras and microphones, including Continuity Camera, in mono or stereo, with a live preview and an input meter before you commit to a take.

Independent levels and fades

Your voice and the app’s audio have their own levels and their own fades, so a loud UI sound never decides how loud you are.

Cleanup you opt into

High-pass, noise gate, voice leveling and compression are each switched on only when the room actually needs them.

Camera styling stays an edit

Shape, size, position, mirror, border, corner radius and shadow are decided afterwards in the editor, not locked in at record time.

FAQ

Questions about camera & audio

Do I need a virtual audio driver for system sound?

No. System audio is captured through macOS itself, so there is no kernel extension or loopback device to install before you can record what the app is playing.

Can I hide my camera part of the way through?

Yes. Camera visibility and microphone mute are available from the floating toolbar, the menu bar and the global shortcuts while the recording continues.
